The Star Barn
The Star Barn is one of the most famous, recognizable, and historic barns in North America! This barn is listed as a National Historic Landmark with the National Register of Historic Places and has long been admired and loved by thousands of people from all walks of life and interests from all over the country. It may be one of the most artistically photographed, painted, and replicated buildings in America because of its unique architectural design, building layout, and most notably, its giant five-point stars on each end. When The Star Barn was built in 1872, landowners dreamed of a bright future for agriculture. The period following the Civil War marked the beginning of a great era of restoration throughout our country. The stars stood for hope and good fortune for the farm and land. It truly was a new beginning.

Agrarian Country
Agrarian Country, temporarily located in Middletown, Pennsylvania, is a nonprofit organization, and was established in 2006 for the purpose of preserving Pennsylvania farmland and farm buildings and to provide a place where people of all ages can visit and/or participate in the operation of numerous agricultural enterprises in a real-life farm setting. Through farmland preservation and hands-on agricultural educational activities, Agrarian Country hopes to rekindle interest in America’s agricultural heritage and a self-sufficient way of life, to promote wholesome and healthy living, and provide a refreshing escape from everyday stresses. Agrarian Country is investing today for the future and appreciation of our agricultural heritage. Agrarian Country will have three centers: Center for Agricultural Enterprises, Center for Agricultural Education, and the Center for Agricultural Tourism.

Veterinarian: Jeffrey M. Edelson, VMD
Dr. Edelson grew up in Lancaster County. As a child and teenager, Dr. Edelson was entranced by horses: riding, showing horses competitively and caring for them. When not with the horses, Dr. Edelson spent many youthful hours at his father’s steel plant. Dr. Edelson studied at the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School, graduating in 1974, when he founded what is now Edelson Equine Associates. The medical team works out of his family farm in Manheim. Over the years, Dr. Edelson became increasingly more specialized in the intense fertility and reproductive side of the practice. He is an acknowledged specialist in the field. Serving South Central and Central Pennsylvania, Edelson Equine Associates offers a modern equine veterinary practice dedicated to quality conscientious care of horses.
